After a Bintang-infused bedtime of 9pm, I (Max) woke up at 1am(!!!) excited to surf Canggu. A few hours later I woke Chris and Jamie up who led us on another death-ped ride to the sick reef and beach break about half hour north of Kuta. It was pretty packed, even at that time in the morning, but we all had a few fun waves then some pancakes watching the reef do its thing.
When we got back to Kuta, we decided it was time to leave the place as its definitely not the Bali experience (kind of like coming to Cornwall for a holiday and only staying in Newquay) so we decided to head North in search of Balinese paradise to a place called Balian. We also decided to ditch the mopeds as they were a death trap and hire the piece of shit 4x4.
Armed with a map and 40 Pall Malls (for 43p!!!) we took the beast north and after a few petrifying near misses, including overtaking on blind corners by crazy locals, and we arrived at Balian where we were greeted by what i can only describe as paradise. The waves were pumping (just overhead reeling rights and lefts) and we managed to find a massive bungalow right on the beach for 500,000 RP a night for all three of us. Its fairly expensive for Bali but still only about 12 pounds each and the place is amazing! So we booked six nights to begin with...
